My name is Shalonda Mitchell; I am the founder and owner of Bare Beauty LLC. I created Bare Beauty LLC to help inaugurate self-awareness due to the experience I had growing up with Alopecia.
The goal of this organization is to help people accept themselves despite their imperfections. Bare Beauty LLC desires to help people cope with their insecurities which means promoting self-love. Learning to love oneself will enable one person to succor someone else who is also dealing with the acceptance of Alopecia. A priority of Bare Beauty's LLC is to become a support system for those who are experiencing such challenges every day.
This year I am hosting an Alopecia Awareness Event. I want to raise awareness because of the lack of knowledge in the community about Alopecia. More than 200,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with Alopecia each year. Many live in fear of accepting the disease due to the fear of judgement. However, I've had the disease for 25 years and have kept it secret for over 23; only a select few knew about my coping with Alopecia. So, the Alopecia Awareness Event is to help educate people on the disease along with giving those who are experiencing Alopecia a way to learn to accept it and embrace their inner beauty without being afraid of criticism.
